FInally! An Update!!
UPDATE:
We now have approximately 3000 Individual Records online. Because we found some duplications in the database a few reference numbers have changed. We will be taking care of this very soon. Once this task is completed a new Master List will be posted on the site.
The BORDEN FORUM is back up and running. For some reason, our original Forum site did a crash and burn and everything went away. I rebuilt it on another site so let's just hope this one sticks around for awhile. If/when godaddy ever gets a forum we will definately make the transfer. Depending on free outside sites is a risk but it's all that's available at this time.
Individual Records 0001-0010 have been modified so that reference numbers link to other Individual Records. This is the goal for all Individual Records.
FUTURE PROJECTS:
Member Genhunter has taken on the task of developing a list of Borden descendants who qualify for membership in the Daughters/Sons of the Revolution. This is an exciting project and when it is complete we will post her work on site. It will be a great asset for our site.

I want to thank Member Shirley for checking all the Borden Name links and finding my typos. I think I got them all.
Thanks to Member Barbara for giving up all her dinner hours to work with me on the phone every night and on combining our other database with our Master List. And I'm glad to say we are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel on this task!
And of course, thanks to Member Genhunter for the DAR/SAR project. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to its completion.
UP FOR GRABS:
If anyone would like to have a special task we have these projects open:
1) We need a list of all Bordens and descendants who served in the military.
2) We need to gather a collection of cemetary pictures either sent to me or uploaded to Photo Filer.
3) We always need more census records. If you would like a copy of the CD of census records we already have please contact me. You will need this disk in order to avoid looking for duplications.
4) We need e-books. E-books are made in Family Tree Maker. If you would like to learn how to make ebooks for your special Bordens email me and we can go through the process on the phone.
So, that's if for now. And I'll try and be a better blogger and come back again soon.
Update and Web Enhancements
Phase I Progress
Well, the Individual Records keep streaming in. We are up to 1700+ records of our first 2500 records. I am still working on "Other Last Names" links but it's a slow game. And since the start of The Borden Project our Master Name List has grown by more than 500 names! Bordens, Bordens, everywhere...
Alabama Family Reunion
As soon as I get the details I'll be posting the info for the Borden Family Reunion. I haven't been able to attend this myself but I've read great freeback on it. I'm sure next year will be just as successful.
Website Enhancements
Since changing servers, I've been able to incorporate some great web tools for our site. I'd like to invite every member to use them and participate in the growth of the site.

Borden Photo Filer
Don't be intimidated by the directions for Photo Filer. We would like everyone to upload their pictures for sharing. If you need help just drop me an email: linda@thebordenproject.com. I have unlimited long distance on my phone and would be glad to call you and walk you through the process. Once you've loaded a couple pictures you'll be adding like a pro. Photo Filer
Well, it's been a busy weekend. I received more Individual Records (IRs) from Shirley and Barbara. I please to say that we are now 60% complete with Phase I. Also, all Borden Names Only with numbers 1-2500 have been linked. Now, once all these IRs are complete all those links will work. Until then you will be seeing Opps Messages so just keep checking back. We're getting there at a very comfortable pace.
Master Name List
We have found a duplication on the Master Name List. It is Gideon Borden. I'm still working on fixing the numbering for him and his spouse Mary Pettice. Hopefully that will be finished by tomorrow. An updated Master Name List will be posted once has been corrected.
Photo Filer
There was some confusion with godaddy dot com and the Photo Filer feature this weekend but we finally figured it out. I had thought that everyone would be able to get their own username and password for Photo Filer. The program was written in such a way that that is how it appearred. But the real answer is that there is only ONE user name and password so ....
We will all have to share it. It's not the ideal situation but I'm not really worried about members posting let's just say unsavory photos to the galleries. If you email me I will send you the user name and password. You can follow the following instuctions for posting your photos.
STEPS TO ADD YOUR PICTURES TO PHOTO FILER
1. Log in.
2. Click on the Menu Bar "Add Photos"
3. Choose the Gallery. There are 3 of them. Please use them accurately. The Bordens Gallery is for any family photos. Cemetaries Gallery is for pictures of headstones, markers, etc. And Homes and Business are for pictures of, yes, Borden Homes and Businesses.
4. On your first visit only there is a small photo program to download. Download that program. Once that is complete a screen will appear that allows you to select photos from your computer. I would suggest that you choose one photo at a time. Put a checkmark in the photo you want then click the button UPLOAD.
5. When the photo has loaded, click okay. This will take you to the gallery. Now click ON THE PICTURE YOU JUST UPLOADED.
6. You will get a screen of that photo. Run your mouse below the picture and lines of text will turn yellow. Click on any one of those lines. You have three places to enter information. Put a Title on your photo. It's a good idea to include the name(s) of the people in the photos. On the caption line you can included a credits or more information. The tag line is the most important for sorting. The ONLY DATA in the tag line is the Reference Number for each person in the photo. Always use a four-digit number and divide them by commas.
7. That's it. Now click SAVE.

The New Borden Project Site
Hello Cousins!
Finally! After all the delays and the waiting for the domain transfer, The Borden Project website is finally up and running!
PHASE I
So, where do we go from here? Well, in PHASE I, our main goal is to get all the Individual Records uploaded and linked to the Master Name List. This is going to take awhile because our data techs, Barbara and Shirley, have been keyboard maniacs, working diligently since the end of April. To date, they have completed 1300+ records. This means I have to make 1300+ links. Unfortunately, I was not able to begin this work until after the website became active, as there was no way to check for accuracy. So, that work will begin tomorrow.
PHOTO GALLERY
I have also begun work on our Photo Gallery. Members will be given access to the Gallery to upload their Borden family pictures. There are protocols for this however. In order to make the Photo Gallery organized and efficient, each picture much be tagged with the Borden Project Reference Number for each person in the photo. More on this later -- I'm still learning the process myself!
MEMBER EMAIL ACCOUNTS
If you would like to have a web-based email account with an address like yourname@thebordenproject.com that option is also available. Again, give me a little time to work to get comfortable with this feature. The accounts aren't very big (10mg per person) so I don't encourage receiving too many attachments.
There are many plans on the board right now for the future of The Borden Project. But like all big endeavors, it takes many small steps to reach completion. Please be patient while we work on Phase I. Once the Individual Records are developed and linked for the first 2500 names on the list we will take a deep breath and begin to plan Phase II.
